![]() ![]() Some conspiracy theorists however, would not rest until the mystery was solved. The identical formula, in all its neon green glory, was about to be repackaged yet again as Shoutin’ Orange Tangergreen (though Hi-C would deny that it was the same beverage). Or, at least that’s what they wanted us to think. The problem was that this new generation of juice box drinkers would have no idea what a Ghostbuster was.įearing that Slimer had overstayed his welcome-and in another swift and lazy move-Hi-C did away with Ecto Cooler altogether. And because we are all suckers for packaging, the farce continued into the next decade. Hi-C Ecto Cooler Returns with Release of 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' News Ecto Cooler Is Back for the New 'Ghostbusters' Film But You Won't Find It in Stores For the first time, Hi-C will. The pitch was simple: place Slimer, the cute green ghost from Ghostbusters, on the box change "Citrus" to "Ecto" conveniently forget that Citrus Cooler ever existed product tie-in achieved. Nonetheless, Citrus Cooler did exist-at least it did until some marketing dolts needed a quick and easy gimmick to sell their cartoon. Apologies for lack of photo evidence, but it appears to have been systematically destroyed to thwart the conspiracy theorists. ![]() If we look back a bit further, there was once a Hi-C product called Citrus Cooler. However, the original marketing strategy was rather sneaky, and mind-numbingly lazy. Although it was only supposed to last as long as the series, it endured for a decade after the show’s cancellation. Upon learning the truth, and the series still in production, West struggled to continue in the role, saying he was “mortified.Ecto Cooler was an immediate and smashing success. So, I’m just being honest, but I did love the show.” This will make it easy to make this drink last if you can get your hands on one, that’s for sure. They said, “No, we want you to do it, Frank is not going to do it.” I just did everything I could to make up for the stuff that I wasn’t able to do.”Īfter being told that “ Welker didn’t want to do it,” roughly halfway through production, West learned the studio had lied to him, admitting that despite loving the show, the whole ordeal made him feel like a “grave robber.” “I played Slimer in a show, and (The Studio) was like, “What do you think? You want to do Slimer? and I was like, “Yeah, I guess, but that’s, you know, Frank Welker,” “Well, he doesn’t want to do it,” adding, “It’s just so strange, why wouldn’t he want to do that?
